about
QUARTER TO 5 - Last in the series of six singles released today - Sept 1.
I wanted to keep this piece on the lighter, happier, uplifting side, kind of a finale for the series. Textural changes are throughout leading to a long build and a somewhat majestic climax. As with most of my tracks, this started off with experimentation, finding key sounds which led to melodic/motivic ideas which led to rhythmic, harmonic and textural ideas. I used a wide range of software and hardware synths and effects in the process all controlled through a digital audio workstation (Cubase).
.
I feel quite good about this series of six singles. I think releasing them one-at-a-time might have allowed listeners time to focus more on the piece. Throughout the process I discovered a lot of sounds, textures, effects and manipulations . Even in trying to describe what I've done in each release, I've noticed different aspects of each track that I hadn't heard before. Thought it was just about the process, the journey if you will, but it's probably more about the looking back.
.
I have no idea what's next.
